The Gold, The Brown & The Ugly

The first time I laid eyes on the "blonde tip" look I was intrigued..... Shenae Grimes, who is not the best actress in town but definitely has great hair, is the first person I had seen with this look. It looked as if she had not dyed her roots in a couple years :) But then I noticed it had become a fad. A "Dark Root" fad. I liked the idea of the "blonde tips" being a few shades lighter than the top portion on the hair. I think some people thought that the idea was to dye the roots Black....
I was watching Dancing with the stars last week and noticed the horrible hair Lacey Schwimmer had going on. It was way to drastic. I can see where she was going with the idea but I just didn't think that it ended up doing what she wanted it to do. When she was dancing I noticed that it looked like she had a brown toupee hair piece on the back of her head or some bad two toned mullet. She always looks so awesome and I have loved her blonde and brunette... I just did NOT like her blonde and brunette at the same time!

It almost makes her hair look greasy. I think if the roots were a shade or two lighter or the blonde was not as bright on the ends she could absolutely pull this look off! She does push the envelope with different looks but I think this style really takes away from how beautiful she is and what cute style she can have.

During my search of "The Ugly" roots I found some other stars who have fallen victim to this fad gone wrong.

Ashely Simpson and Drew Barrymore. There is fine line between trendy and tacky... Don't take away from your beauty. Enhance it!

This photo bellow looks like it is a gag gift wig for the White Trash nation... But this is how Lacey kinda looked to me on DWTS...........

There are some ladies who knew exactly how to pull it off and they are................Whitney Port.. This girl knows how to make anything look good. She never goes too far into the unknown. She makes trendy things work! Look at how effortlessly the brown blends into the lighter ends. She looks beautiful.

And Giuliana Rancic......... They have done the right thing by making this look appear natural! I LOVE IT! So if anyone wants to have the "Blonde Tip" look remember we don't want it to look like the "Black roots" look!!!!!!! I think that if you can pull this off and make it look like these two ladies you will have yourself a top notch look... if you error on the side of the Lacey's, Ashley's and Drew's you might have a problem :) Let me know if anyone is adventuresome enough to try it... :) I would love to see some more people go this way. I think it is fresh! xoxo LML

Don't be a Virgin! Just Do It Already!!!!

Never doing something, sometimes, makes it a little scary. For example, someone who has never eaten sushi... Eating raw fish does seem strange and foreign. The longer that person waits to try this yummy grub the chances of them ever eating it go down. The fear of the unknown, I guess. Just like me being a chicken and never snowboarding due to my fear of breaking my leg and never dancing again. Well, this year I decided I was going to do a list of things that I have never done .... things that I would be considered a virgin at, so-to-speak (much, of which, are not in the beauty realm). I think many women are "Virgins" in my makeup/beauty world. And I think that everyone needs lose their big "V" on something new this year! So If you are reading this pick one thing and blame me if it ruins your life ;)

It is the little things in life that can make it more exciting.
1. Eyelash Virgins- When ever I do weddings I find it hard to believe how many women have never worn False lashes. I could understand women my mom's age.... wait.... I take that back. how did grow up in the 60's and 70's and never wear lashes? Why would you never want to,at least try and look like this for one day out of your life?

Just give it a whirl! It isn't going to............ kill you, harm you, pull your lashes out, make people think you are a hussy. It is one day of your life and If you hate it... Don't do it again but ... If you love it It might just make you feel a little hotter :)

2.Hair Dye Virgins-- I know some people pride themselves on "I have never dyed my hair". Why? You know what that says to me .... BORING! I am asleep right now just thinking about it. And when I style "virgin hair" what does it do?.... um.. nothing! It goes Limp (no pun intended :) ) . damage that hair up a bit it will make it hold curl better, have more volume..... and Hey... you might LIKE IT! And if you don't....You can dye it back :) You only life once :) I am not telling you to try what this little DIVA has going on to my left (on a side note: it is totally cool on her and she will remember that hair when she has 3 kids and drives a mini van and thinks "I was a bad ass. I wish I could pull that off at 35!") Let's liven up that mousey brown hair. Lighter or Darker can really amp up your natural beauty (you don't have to bleach your hair)! And some light blondes look amazing with dark hair (I am not included in that "some")!

3. Eyebrow Waxing Virgins............ We don't need any Frida Kahlo's running around town. Eyebrows are the most important thing on your face. (Hopefully, by now, you all know how obsessed I am with them!!!!) I remember some of my friends moms being sooooooo "anti-eyebrow plucking". My mom and I never understood it. She always shared the importance of grooming to me:) Even if you just tweeze the hair that are way out of the natural line. It isn't a life changing decision. Although Once you see how clean your brows feel and how amazing they look... it just might be! Go outside of the box and wax, tweeze, thread, sugar.... what ever you feel like.... You eyebrows will grow back. When older women tell you that they plucked them out and they never grew back.... they just have thinning eyebrows. That happens when you get older you lose hair where you want it and it starts growing in places you don't want it! Like your chin... I totally found my first chin hair!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I freaked! Lasered that right off!!!

4. Middle Part Virgins............ I am sooooo guilty!!!! I was 16 when I went from bangs to a side part. For the last 12 years I have swooped my bangs from left to right! I sore up and down that I would NEVER part my hair DOWN the MIDDLE!!!! "I am no Hippie" is what I thought haha. UNTIL.............. I kept watching the Kardashians. I couldn't get over how stinking beautiful they were! They would always part their hair down the center. So one day I tried it. I HATED it at first but once I got used to it I LOVED it!!! It gives me a new fresh look. Who knows how long I will let this trend last on my head but it was really fun to try something new.

5. Bottom Mascara Virgins--- What the heck people.... put a little mascara on the bottom... your lower lashes want your love too!!!!! Try it for a week and get used to it... they don't have to be tarantula legs! Just a smidge on those short little buggers!!!!

So ladies... and Gentleman (manscaping is all the rage)MY POINT IS....................... try something new, just for fun. It doesn't have to be permanent. How about you wear some red lipstick or get a new color of nail polish. Do something! It really can be so much fun! I con people into doing sooooooooooooooooo much stuff they would never do! And They love it (most of the time that is)!!! If you listen to me and branch out it might just effect your life in a positive way!!! Hey I am getting my mom off the Blue eyeliner in her water line (that is the wet part between your eyelashes and your eyeball) as we speak... she wants black... STAT!!! She almost 57 and She has worn that blue liner for at least 20 years (I hope not 40)..... If she is willing to change you all need to find something to make life more exciting!!!!

De-Virginize Your Beauty Regiment!!!!!

In your own words: I was the hit of the high school Proms from 2000-2009. No one could stop me.... I was found at every hot spot in town. Some would say I have hit my peak but I still think I am a cool as heck. Urban decay couldn't get enough of me and still can't... they even put actual glitter in my Bitchin' Shimmer Shadows! Yes, the glitter may have fallen down onto the face causing the "hot mess" look but it was all good cuz the girls were lovin' me! The older ladies took a few rides on the Shimmer Train from time to time but it just wasn't a good match with the age of their eyelids. I just am not into the older crowd. I want to hook up with the 20 something party gals. Let me know if you want me to take you for a spin and give you a look that makes glisten. - Shimer-tastic Sean

Why Tint?

Eyelash/Eyebrow tinting is a service that falls under many people's radar. It is so easy to use mascara and pencil in your brows daily that we forget that there is a more permant solution. Those of my readers who have thick dark lashes and brows need not apply.... but you might know someone who faces the blonde hair dilema. All of us "Fake Blondes" don't have to worry either beause we have dark brows and lashes. I don't even know what my real hair color is, since I have been dying my hair since the 6th grade! Ill post that story at the end of the blog just for those people who are curious as to why I started dying my hair so young :)

Back to the tinting (I am the queen of shinny objects... always on a tangent)

If you have blonde lashes you notice a drastic difference in the apperance of your lashes when you put mascara on. You look at yourself all day with mascara, so when you get home and wash off your makeup you have light lashes staring back at you, you don't even feel like yourself. In some cases those with light lashes might shy away from others seeing them with no makeup. I know this because, many of my clients share with me their thoughts and feelings on beauty on a daily basis.

Solution: get your Tint ON Girl!!!! (or guy, I am not going to discrimate)

It only takes 10-20 minutes. It is going to save you time putting on your makeup in the morning. You wont have to coat every single lash perfectly with mascara or worry about getting all the way down to the root. You wont have to worry about penciling in both eyebrows exactly the same. They will already be penciled in. AND>>>>>>>>>> huge bonus: when you don't have makeup on you will feel like you have mascara and brow pencil on. You just might feel more confident being makeupless!

Here is the process for Lash Tinting.....

Eye pads are put under the bottom lashes to stop the tint from staining under your eye, the tint is applied, it processes and it is taken off. That is it! It can sting for a couple minutes but it is worth it. It is not "hair color" it is a vegetable dye. That is why it lasts between 3-5 weeks instead of the full lifespan of each eyelash.

Here is a photo of the tint processing......

What a difference a tint makes:)

Again... I always tell readers.... do your own research! Look it up, see if it could be something for you:) Ask me questions if you have any!!!!

**** Story

Hair Color at age 11:

Around age 10 my blonde hair from childhood started to turn. It turned very quickly! I went from blonde to brown hair in a matter of a year or two. My mother (if you know her you know her this will make so much sense) wasn't having any of that! She remembered when she was 18 she used Sun-In to lighten her hair, must of slipped her mind that it turned her hair ORANGE!!!!! We sprayed it on and blow dryed it. It got a little lighter and it, for sure, turned MY hair orange! Her best friends sister was a hairstylist in Burbank. We took drive out there and had my orange hair "fixed" (this was all part of her plan, I swear! hahahahaha). Instead of my hair being lighter than brown, it was White Blonde! We all loved it! I have been Blonde ever since. I did dye my hair dark once and boy did I learn my lesson. It lasted a full two days of me crying! I look awful as a brunette. Orange hair at 11 turned into a lifetime blessing:) Love you MOM! Thanks you for always letting me be creative and girly!!!! It gave me the tools to have an awesome adult job!...
Okay, one more story about my mom.......
I always had a fascination with makeup and high heels. I think that is why I wear so much makeup and have worn heels almost everyday since 9th grade! When I was about 5 or 6, I went snooping under the sink where, I knew, my mom kept the curling iron. I pulled it out, hid in the living room behind a big chair and plugged it in. I waited for it to heat up and went to work. I curled a few tendrils and then lost grip of the iron. It hit my wrist and gave it quite the burn. Instead of crying or screaming, because I knew I would be in big trouble, I quietly went into the bathroom, put back the curling iron and found a cartoon band aid to put on the burn. A few minutes later when I was talking with my mom, she asked "Why is there a band aid on your wrist, Lindsay?" I responded with "Mom, I wasn't using the curling iron behind the chair!" I was caught, "RED HAND-BURNED"! Instead of being mad, she asked if I was okay. After I told her I was fine and she checked out how much damage I had done, she laughed. Then she took me in the bathroom and taught me how to use the curling iron the safe and correct way. That is what kind of mom I have, an awesome one! I give all the credit for helping me find the woman I am today!

Bumble & Bumble: Prep

When you have thin, fine or easily tangled hair what do you do?

Rich conditioners can be too heavy for this hair type. It is hard to find a good product that will not make your thin hair look stringy and greasy. I have always had fine hair and have always been faced with the choice: healthy/flat hair or damaged/voluminous hair? I would always stick with the later, of course!!! Who wants flat healthy hair, as if! ha ha. I loved Moroccan oil at first! It made my hair really healthy and smooth but it came with some down sides. The oil made my hair too slick to create volume and I felt like I need to wash my hair daily. I gave up on a detangler that would not weigh my hair down. UNTIL>>>>>>>>>>>>

I went to get my hair extensions blended in last month and my stylist sprayed a mild scented product in my hair. I asked what it was and he explained that it was a light detangler with many added benefits. He categorized it as a hair "foundation", which I thought was very interesting. It is a foundation to all the other products I put into my hair after. It was only $18 so I decided to purchase it. If I hated it I would only be out 18 bucks. No big deal. I gave it a month, I don't want to tell everyone to try something if I have only tried it once!!!! Well..... After one month.....I LOVE IT. I wash my hair, I towel dry, spray it on, comb my hair and blow dry. It is amazing. Having all this fake hair in my head makes everything tangle much more than normal so it is awesome for hair extensions. I have noticed my hair looks healthier and smoother without sacrificing body and volume. Big bonus... I don't have to wash my hair everyday ...... and ........It has been a month and it barely look like I have made a dent in the bottle! You only need a few sprays!

After my review I looked at B&B's website to read their description and this is how it reads:

Prep: a must for fine to normal hair: this nutrient-rich detangler reveals texture, enhances the performance of styling products and quickly refreshes already styled hair without weighing it down.

Check it out if you have fine hair!!!! or extensions;)
